FAQ: Infinity: A Game Boy Color Tactical RPG back after 20 years!

Do you own the rights to Infinity?

We have worked very closely with Affinix throughout the lead up to this campaign. As you will see, a number of past Affinix members are involved with our project, and we have been in very close contact with those who are not directly involved. We do have a legal contract with the original five members of the Affinix team, to licence the Infinity trademark for pre-campaign marketing and the like, and to retain full rights to Infinity upon completion of a successful Kickstarter campaign. We hope that this clarifies any concerns regarding the situation.

What will happen with the 2016 source code?

During our development and initial run of Infinity, this source code will not be available. However, we certainly don’t want this to be a case of us coming in and taking from the open source community; rather, we prefer to use this as an opportunity to give to the community.

It is for this reason that we intend to rerelease the source code - not just in its original 2016 state, but with any revisions we have done to complete the game - under a creative commons non-commercial license (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). We hope that having this completed source code available in this way continues to foster growth in the retro gaming community - in particular the development community - to encourage developers to continue to work on titles for this great console!

Will Infinity be available after the Kickstarter campaign?

Yes, we will be offering Infinity through our website once we have fulfilled all of our backer’s orders. However, this version will naturally not include any Kickstarter exclusive material (for example, the clear black / glittery gray cartridge).

Will backers be receiving a Steam key?

For the most part, yes! Now that we have reached our funding goal to port Infinity to Steam, all backers at the “ROM Only” tier and above will be receiving a Steam key.

How do I access the Discord server open to some pledge levels?

The Discord server will not be available until the Kickstarter campaign has concluded. At that point, anyone who has a pledge that includes access to the Discord server will be provided with everything they need.

Do certificate numbers for the limited editions correspond with the order in which they were backed?

Unfortunately, it isn’t logistically feasible for us to guarantee that certificate numbers will align with the order in which pledges are made.

Will it be possible to differentiate between standard and limited editions?

Yes, we plan to make the edition clear on the outside of the box, so that individuals getting more than one copy are able to determine which is which without needing to break the seal and unbox the game.

Why can’t I purchase any add-ons?

All add-ons are physical items, and therefore require shipping. If you have pledged at a tier that doesn’t have any shipping (“Digital Edition” or below), you will be unable to purchase any add-ons.

How much are the add-ons?

We are currently offering the following add-ons. All prices are in CAD. Also note that all pledges at “Standard Edition” and above already include one box protector.

Box Protector - $4 Soundtrack CD - $26 Sealed Physical Copy - $56 Soundtrack Vinyl - $66

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
